Enjoy 10 days of camping and rock climbing in the Columbia Gorge River Valley, Washington, and Smith Rock State Park in central Oregon. Motivated teens ages 14-17 will study with world class climbers Lynn Hill, Beth Rodden and Rick Harrell. Our aim is to be the finest teen climbing camp in the world. We have a cooperative relationship with PROFESSIONAL CLIMBERS INTERNATIONAL, which will bring one of the top climbers in the world to each of our sessions. From our base camp along the COLUMBIA RIVER, we go out each day to different climbing areas in the Gorge and to beautiful and inspirational Smith Rock. Smith Rock is widely considered a rock climbing mecca. There are over 1800 climbing routes in and around the park including some of the best sport climbing in the world. Instructors will cover the basics, and then move on to more advanced climbing skills .All ability and skill levels can be accommodated as we are a very small and personalized camp. Our climbing focus is rounded out with traditional camping activities. We spend a half day every session to enjoy whitewater rafting on the nearby White Salmon River ... other excursions will see us cooling off with a swim in the mighty Columbia River, or hiking to a waterfall. When at the base camp we offer a professional evening program consisting of story telling, guest speakers and live music, and 24/7 supervision. We are the brain child of Dr. Robert Hanson, Professor Emeritus from San Diego State University Department of Recreation, where he taught Camp Counseling and Camp Administration for 23 years.
