Like many, we’re of the belief that bacon makes everything better, so the moment we saw the Bacon Sampler on the menu at Nashville’s newest gastropub, {PUB}licity, we knew we were gonna be big fans. Located in the Kroger shopping center on the corner of Old Hickory Boulevard and Highway 70S, {PUB}licity’s inventive dishes, well-crafted throwback cocktails and endless varieties of craft beer left us feelin’ pretty darn happy…and stuffed…and buzzed. And totally bacon-ified. Which brings us back to what’s most important here—the bacon. Served in a newsprint paper cone, this heavenly sampler features three different types of bacon: applewood smoked, maple-candied and chocolate-covered. While we wouldn’t judge you for ordering six of those and calling it a day (that'd be a pot-meet-kettle kind of situation, after all), {PUB}licity does offer a boatload of other foodstuffs to get psyched about, including the classic burger and an outta-this-world-good seafood roll. And while that's certainly enough to make us regulars (seriously, this place had us at Bacon Sampler), the side accoutrements of sweet potato tots and garlic fries sealed the deal. Awkwardly located in a small shopping center behind a Waffle House in Mt. Juliet, Hana Sushi House is one of those places we find our smug selves wanting to keep a secret. Luckily though, we’re pretty horrible secret keepers and so we’re happy to share with you, fellow sushi devotees, our major love for Hana Sushi House and the 100-plus rolls that awaited us there. Using only the freshest of ingredients, Hana’s sushi creations are as delicious as they are beautiful. Featuring snow crab, shrimp tempura and avocado, and topped with crab stick, eel sauce and spicy mayo, the Shaggydog is our go-to specialty roll (though we’ve also been known to rage on the 15-piece Sashimi Dinner). And for those who have a gluten allergy or other dietary restriction that makes dining out a little scary, fret not. Hana is well equipped to meet everyone's needs with plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options. And, of course, everything is customizable, save for the Mochi Ice Cream.
