Great summer days are spent sailing on the Potomac River. Meet new friends, sail in a safe environment, and have fun! This is a five-day course with Washington Sailing Marina that covers the basics of sailing, parts of a boat, steering, use of a sail, capsizing and safety issues. Perfect for a first-time sailor or for children with limited sailing experience. There will be 2 students per boat. Hands-on experience is the best way to learn to sail, so our emphasis is on learning by doing. Children will be sailing 90% of the time (weather permitting). Students should wear shorts, shirts and rubber-soled shoes (no flip flops) and should bring other clothes appropriate for the forecast. Students may bring their lunch in a cooler or buy lunch at the café. US Sailing curriculum is followed throughout each level.
