These days, the writing habits of little ones are all thumbs. Stop the texting and put the smart back in your kid, not his or her phone with today's deal from Write Away Academy: For $99 enroll your child in eight weeks of online writing camp or one day of writing boot camp August 4 or September 1 at the Rush Park Auditorium in Rossmoor (regularly $500). In the eight-hour writing boot camp, high schoolers will work on drafting college application essays. In the online writing camp, seventh through twelfth graders will benefit from one hour a week of instruction with a professional teacher that teaches persuasive, exposition, and descriptive writing and is in line with the Common Core curriculum. There are virtual office hours, group activities, and all sessions can be viewed 24 hours a day for the full two months so kids can review, sharpen their skills, and make writing -- not texting -- fun again.
