Wren's Nest House Museum Coupons and Deals
Brer Rabbit storyteller Joel Chandler Harris lived in The Wren’s Nest—a house named after wrens made a nest in the mailbox 120 years ago—from 1881 until 1908. One of the last remaining Queen Anne Victorian homes in Atlanta, the gorgeous structure now serves as a house museum—as it has since 1913—and a portal through history. The storyteller’s room has remained relatively untouched since his death, and both the interior and exterior of the home have been restored to appear as they did in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Stepping foot inside the Wren’s Nest House Museum—a National Historic Landmark—is about as close as you can get to stepping back in time.If you love stories or have kids who do, be sure to stop by on a Saturday at 1pm for Wren’s Nest’s storytime, when talented performers bring the oral tradition to life as they spin tales that excite and entertain the imagination.
