Valerie Confections Coupons and Deals
Browsing the stalls at Grand Central Market in Downtown, you can’t help but stop for a double-take in front of the display case at Valerie—the pastries, pies, and puddings inside just look amazing. Located in the middle of the market, this coffee shop/bakery is decked out with red countertops and barstools, white tiles, stainless steel trim, and menus written on red-trimmed chalkboards. True to your first impression, everything listed, from savory pies to salads to pastries, sound downright appetizing as well. If you’re thinking lunch, the cold fried chicken sandwich gets high marks: a honey mustard relish, coleslaw, and slices of apples are layered over and a nice breast of crispy-fried chicken on a thick baguette. But then there is Valerie’s piecrust—a flakey, buttery, delicious work of art, best experienced with the Moroccan chicken pot pie or the kale hand pie. And let’s not kid ourselves—you don’t leave a confectioner’s without trying one (at least!) of the sweets. If it will only be one, let it be the salted caramel bread pudding. Made of classic French loaf, bits of salted caramel croissant, a little extra caramel for good measure, and a huge dollop of slightly sweetened whipped cream—it may very well be what was calling your name from the display in the first place.
