Celebrating defiance in art forms, Boston Musica Viva opens its 45th Season with a one-man opera, a French medieval tale about a nobleman-turned-werewolf and a tribute to legendary jazz violinist Joe Venuti. Robert X. Rodriguez' one-man opera, "Tango", explores the controversial craze that swept the world in the early 20th century and was banned in places, including Boston, and even by the Pope. Martin Brody's world premiere of "Scene" from "Bisclavret", an opera in progress, follows a nobleman-turned-werewolf who seeks revenge over the betrayal of his wife. And composer Gunther Schuller pays tribute to legendary jazz violinist Joe Venuti in "Sonata Serenata".
