Scout Notes: It's been less than a year since the Lawrence first opened its doors to Midtown. But after eight months, it's at the top of the list for many a Midtowner in search of creative cuisine they simply can't find elsewhere in the city. And since creativity knows no time of day, the dishes coming out of this kitchen in the earlier hours are just as uniquely awesome and ambitious as their dinner service. If you're a hardcore bruncher and the standard waffles of other breakfast spots are boring you to tears, then many a weekend brunch can (and should!) be spent here. Unless, you know, you tend to whip up sweet bread omelets and flap jacks with candied kumquat on the reg. Didn't think so. Needless to say, the dishes served during the daylight hours aren't exactly what you'll find at, well, any other restaurant in the city. And since, for most of us, brunch is obviously just an excuse for breakfast-boozing, aficionados of the cocktail will appreciate having a little hair-of-the-dog at the hands of one of Atlanta's most acclaimed mixologists. Indeed, Toto, we ain't in Waffle house no more.
