You don't have to tax your brain -- or eat any -- to realize that The Infected Zombie 5K Run is a fun way to spend your Saturday. Take part with today's deal and pay $12 (regularly $25) for access to the music and party portions of the event; $17 (regularly $35) to race in the 5K as a zombie, receive a race medal, and attend the after party; or $30 (regularly $60) for a race bib and to run the 5K course, get a race medal, water, and access to the after party. Held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on October 6, this 5K has participants pursued by zombies as they race to the finish line -- where both zombies and humans will find bands, beverages, and Halloween merriment. The zombies will try to take your flags (think flag football), so outrun them and you'll make it to the end without being infected. The event takes place at the Sag Valley Trails in Palos Park, so strap on your running shoes and get ready to take on mud, dirt, and these unrelenting creatures.
