The Grisly Pear Coupons and Deals
Owning a business with your friends can be a tricky endeavor, especially when it comes to naming it. How do you choose whose name goes up on the door? In one of the most democratic moves we've seen (not to mention clever), the gang of friends behind this Washington Square hangout turned their names (Gary, Peter, Lisy) into an anagram, officially naming their bar The Grisly Pear. While this low-ceilinged, playfully decorated bar has been slinging drinks to the Greenwich Village crowd under this moniker since 2009, the space itself has a bit of history: back in the day it was known as Cafe Rienza and was a popular hangout of the original bad boy, James Dean. Today, the friendly bar crew welcomes patrons with a hearty hello and wide ranging options in terms of draft beers and house cocktails. On the food side, the spot's got bar staples like the Grisly Burger, Chicago Dog (tomato, sweet relish, pickle, hot pepper, onion and mustard) and classic hot wings. Once you've ordered, head to the back room for a range of rotating weekly events from comedy nights to karaoke, or just kick it up front and enjoy the fact that, unlike a lot of bars in the area who pander to the NYU kids, you won't be subjected to a rowdy game of beer pong. We have a couple of four-letter anagrams to convey our feelings about beer pong. Menu Highlights: Grisly Burger, $6 Hot Wings, $8.50 Chicago Dog, $5 Hours: Monday - Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 a.m. Saturday & Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 a.m.
