For $59, Travelzoo subscribers can soar above Houston with a FAA Certified Flight Instructor from The Flight School in Cypress, less than 30 miles from downtown Houston. The 40-minute flight, which has been discounted more than 50%, allows participants to get hands-on experience using the cockpit controls and provides a sense of what it's like to fly an airplane. The experience starts with a 15-minute introduction to airplane fundamentals. During the flight, the student sits in the cockpit with the instructor and receives an introductory flying lesson. The plane can fly over downtown Houston or a destination of the student's choice (that can be reached in the time allotted). Or, for $125, regularly $248, aspiring pilots can take a training course that includes a two-hour ground school lesson with aircraft pre-flight inspection and an introductory flight lesson.
