Headliner: SHAUN JONES For the past 16+ years the comedy world’s senses have been tantalized by both audio and visual artistry. Shaun Jones is making his mark on that world where ever he goes with quick wit and fashionable flair. Using creativity and diversity in his comedy, Shaun displays that “Comedy Has No Color”! Shaun Jones was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, now residing in Atlanta. Since emerging on the stand-up comedy scene, Shaun has made national television, and several film appearances and he has traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and beyond entertaining crowds using many of his personal life experiences. Like an accomplished chef, Shaun’s comedy performances combine a cup of truth, a spoonful of originality, and a double twist of humor. When he takes the stage, he mixes his talents before the audience, bakes his show just right, and serves up a unique dish to satisfy everyone’s laughter appetite. Shaun has appeared on such television shows as NBC’s “Later”, BET’s “Teen Summit”, BET’s “Comic View” and BET’s “One Mic Stand”. He also made a cameo appearance in the 1994 blockbuster hit film “Ace Ventura II When Nature Calls” with critically acclaimed actor Jim Carey. He has also appeared in the 2003 motion picture film called “Shade” as the crooked poker player “Mr. Ose” starring Sylvester Stalone and Jamie Foxx. Like a fresh breath of comedic air, Russell’s act is like nothing you’ve heard before and nothing you’ll forget. Bouncing from the caustic to the playful and landing somewhere in between the intelligent and the moronic, Russell delights in taking his audiences down avenues of comedy that aren’t even listed on the map. If you’re looking for unique and original stand-up, then look no further (unless he’s standing far away). Russell got his start in comedy in Edinburgh, Scotland. While on an exchange program, he tried his hand at an open mic and left the audiences in stitches and cheering for more. Only later did he discover it was a room full of drunken Danish tourists who didn’t speak English very well, but by then it was too late – he was hooked. Upon his return home, Russell received his degree in English literature from the University of Alabama and instead of writing the great American novel he decided to write jokes. And although his parents weren’t so thrilled with this turn of events, Russell couldn’t be happier. The Comedy Zone is located inside The Basement in downtown Greenville.
