Description

Modernism is a point of view and a way of seeing the history of art. This class is built around the idea that certain fundamental truths about art never die; they just evolve. In keeping with that idea, students will privilege visual structure and personal discovery over simply making a product. As we work from the figure and beyond, all students will be offered personal attention to help develop their skills and raise their level of visual understanding. Classes will be held on Mondays at 4-7 pm from March 25th to May 13th, 2013. Class is taught by Henry Finkelstein, who has studied at the Cooper Union with Rueben Kadish and Nicolas Marsicano and at the Yale School of Art with Lester Johnson. He has also taught at the Hartford Art School, the College of William and Mary, Pratt Institute, the New York Studio School, and the Washington DC Studio School.
