Description
The 5th Avenue Theatre presents Gilbert and Sullivan's beloved "The Pirates of Penzance". This comic musical tells the story of Frederic, a boy mistakenly apprenticed to a soft-hearted band of pirates (his hard-of-hearing nurse was told to take him to a ship's "pilot"). When his apprenticeship is finally over, he leaves the pirate ship and promptly falls in love with a Major-General's daughter. Just as he starts planning for a law-abiding future, the pirates return to inform him that since his birthday falls on Leap Day, he still has another 63 years of pirate apprenticeship left. The score features many of Gilbert and Sullivan's wittiest and most engaging tunes, including the immortal "I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General."
