Clarendon can be described with a lot of adjectives, however, “exotic” is not usually one of them. That is, unless you step inside Taste of Morocco, a cozy little spot that serves up—you guessed it—Moroccan cuisine. Whether its lunch or dinner, the food will not disappoint. “The recipes are traditional,” said Larbi, who's owned the restaurant for eight years. Which means the spices will rock your flavor receptors. Yes, there’s nothing Americanized about the menu here, whether it’s the couscous options or a tagine (the lamb with dried prunes tagine is stellar), each bite is so packed with flavor, you’ll want a beverage nearby to keep your taste buds in check. While beer and wine is always a good option, our favorite is the mint tea. We’re not sure what makes it so outstanding, but we could drink this stuff by the gallon. And we kinda do on the weekends because that’s when the entertainment pops up, which diners are invited to take part in. Don’t worry, we’ve practiced are belly-dancing moves already, so it’ll only be a little awkward for everybody. Eh, maybe we’ll just keep eating. After all, this magnificent lentil soup isn’t going to slurp itself. Menu Highlights: Lentil Soup, $4.95 Lamb Tagine, $15.95 Couscous with Merguez, $14.95 Moroccan Feasts for Two, $46.95 to $54.95 Moroccan Mint Tea, $4.50 (small), $6.50 (large) Hours: LUNCH Monday – Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. DINNER Sunday – Thursday, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday & Saturday, 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
