Scout Notes: A little over three years ago, Chef Arnold Myint opened his latest Nashville creation, Suzy Wong’s House of Yum. Interestingly described as “a brothel for your mouth,” Suzy Wong’s serves tapas style Asian dishes in a trendy, energetic atmosphere. We’ve been fans of Suzy Wong’s for a while, but we do have to admit that the name itself is what originally got us in the door. Referencing the 1950’s novel, The World of Suzie Wong, Suzy Wong’s House of Yum is a nod to the novel’s main character, Suzie, an Asian prostitute who meets and falls in love with an American Diplomat. Steamy stuff. Topped with queso blanco, edamame pico, red curry crema, and sriracha, the Asian Wonton Pulled Pork Nachos are one of our favorite items on the menu. In fact, we can’t recall a time we’ve gone to Suzy Wong’s without ordering them. Most menu items are meant to be shared, so rather than coursing the meal, each dish arrives to the table as it’s ready. What we might love most about Suzy Wong’s, aside from the creative cocktails and ridiculously delicious menu, of course, is the diverse group of people the restaurant brings together. You know they’ve gotta be doing somethin’ right when everyone from college students to 80-year-old women can be found dining in the same spot. Also cool: On the weekends, Suzy Wong’s offers free valet parking and serves dinner until 1am.
