Scout Notes: After a sweltering Nashville summer, we couldn’t be happier that fall has arrived. But as much as we enjoy sweater weather, festivals, and all things pumpkin flavored, we do have to admit that we’re dreading the 4:30pm darkness that will soon invade our rad city. You too? Don’t let the lack of daylight get you down. Just do what we do and head on over to South Street Original Smokehouse, Crab Shack and Authentic Diver Bar where you can at least eat like you’re where the weather is warm and the sun is shinnin’. Located on 20th Ave. South, this Nashville smokehouse/crab shack has been serving up the best in barbecue (they smoke all of their meats on site) and seafood since 1991. We love South Street’s large, open-air atmosphere and can’t get enough of the shrimp n’ grits. When you go, don’t forget to check out the tree house bar—our favorite spot in the city to enjoy a cold one and some fresh oysters (they’re delivered and shucked on the day they’re served).
