Usually when people say "it's all downhill from here," they're suggesting that something's going to be easy. Nothing could be further from the truth at the Slacker Half Marathon, a unique race that has you running steep downhills on a high altitude course. The starting line is at Loveland Ski Area, where the course winds past wetlands and natural waterfalls, ushering runners along a newly paved trail. At Bakerville you'll switch to a frontage road that offers amazing vistas of the Continental Divide. The last few miles - and the spot where entrants to the Four Miler will start their race - pick up at Silver Plume, where you'll be treated to scenic view of Georgetown Loop Railroad and the largest bighorn sheep herd in the state. And if you're not quite ready to run the whole way, walking's definitely an option - water stations stay open until the last racer has crossed the finish line, so they'll be waiting to cheer you on when you parade past. This run might be mostly downhill, but there's nothing easy about traveling 13.1 miles on your own two feet.
