Scout Notes: Thinking back, we can’t recall a year that Sitar Indian Cuisine hasn’t won a Nashville Scene Best of Nashville award. And for good reason. Located on 21st Ave. near downtown and Vanderbilt University, Sitar offers a blend of traditional and innovative Indian dishes, including popular favorites like Chicken Tikka Masala (chicken tikka cooked in creamy sauce with fresh tomato and exotic spices) and Matar Panir (green peas with homemade Indian cheese in a mildly spiced sauce), as well as soups, appetizers, and Indian beer and wine. Also cool? Sitar’s dining area is huge, so despite their heavy lunch rush, we’ve never had to wait for a table. They also offer plenty of free parking, as well as live sitar every Thursday from 6pm to 9pm.
