The Issue: Housing for Homeless Families Sisters Place, Inc. subsidizes permanent and transitional housing for single-parent families who are working their way out of poverty and homelessness. When families graduate from subsidized housing to independent living, they take the furniture that was provided for them in their home at Sisters Place, leaving the transitional housing unit empty in preparation for the next family’s arrival. Since 1997, the organization has assisted 210 families lift themselves out of homelessness.
