To some, “comfort food” may refer to variants of menu items from a diner or your grandmother’s kitchen, but at Shady Grove, it signifies something more modern (sorry grandma). Their newly revamped menu features dishes such as grilled pork chop with a bourbon-molasses reduction, baby back ribs with a chipotle barbecue sauce, and a roasted pulled pork sandwich. But the 20-year-old Zilker mainstay’s acclaim doesn’t stop at the menu: Zagat says their food is best enjoyed whilst “lolling under the trees, listening to live music,” on their expansive patio. While their menu might be modern you can still kick back with friends in the homey atmosphere or get on your feet with a selection from their old-fashioned jukebox.
