Since 1952, Rudy Lopez has worked in some of the finest restaurants in Los Angeles. He worked his way up from dishwasher/busboy/bartender to chef - and learned to appreciate fresh, flavorful food. In the late 50's, he moved to the South Bay area. In 1962 he opened his first restaurant in Redondo Beach. After a successful run in the South Bay, Rudy went to San Diego where he opened two restaurants, one in the new part of La Jolla, and the other in El Cajon. He also incorporated three restaurants in Orange County as well.In the 1970's Rudy traveled between Mexico City and New York. His trips to New York City, as well as support from people like Chico Sesma (Con Sabor Latino), Hector Resendez (Radio KPFK), Alma Del Barrio, Kiki Soto, & Jose Rizo (Radio KLON), enabled Rudy to meet & work with Latin Jazz performers such as Tito Puente, Cal Tjader, Willie Bobo, Eddie Cano, Manny Lopez, Eddie Palmeri, Larry Harlow, Renee Tuzet, Mongo Santamaria, and Poncho Sanchez. Rudy was inspired to bring the best in Latin music to East Los Angeles. Rudy moved to ELA and opened Rudy's Pasta House - a successful restaurant and nightclub.
