Bars, like some of their patrons, can possess what's known in the drinking parlance as "staying power." Denver's Roo Bar certainly fits this bill after closing in one part of town and reopening in another to the delight of its customers. And today, the bar's new incarnation is offering you a great value: Get $25 worth of food and drinks at Roo Bar for only $12, a savings of 52 percent! According to legend, Knute Roo opened the first Roo Bar in Denver's Cherry Creek shopping district, at least until the area's gentrification smothered all semblance of fun for the Roos and their kind. The new Roo Bar is run by Johnny Roo (no relation), who was hand picked by Knute to take the reins and re-create the once dominate Cherry Creek martini and pool hall into an open concept neighborhood type bar with Midwest values and Colorado pride. Now there are are plenty of windows, but no proper sign to speak of yet. Customers come from all areas and walks of life. Just off of the Park Ave./38th Street and I-25 exit, Roo Bar is on your way to or from just about anywhere you are going or have been. Foot traffic is at a minimum, as the new location is certainly a destination bar, but when you make the effort to enjoy the new Roo Bar you will be greeted with dozens of free parking spaces and a less than "LODO" attitude and arrogance. These are more humble surroundings a mere 900-foot home run and lucky roll away from Coor's Field. It's just a 10-minute walk to all home games, as well as a great place to meet and carpool to Broncos and Nuggets games. In addition to great local tap beers, you'll still enjoy a wide variety of menu choices at the Roo, from appetizers like nachos, Wisconsin Cheese Curds and the shrimp basket, to salads, burgers, brats and even gluten-free pizzas. There are also specials every day of the week, including the traditional Friday Night Fish Fry. Visit (or revisit) a true Denver survivor, the Roo Bar: Get $25 worth of food and drinks at Roo Bar for only $12, a savings of 52 percent!
