Germany's certainly not all about liters of beer and heaps of sausage -- but today's deal certainly is. For $10, you'll enjoy $20 worth of food and drink at Rhine Haus Eatery & Pub on Union Boulevard. Having created a new menu (and a new attitude), the new Le Cordon Bleu-educated chef Matthew Galati runs the the kitchen in his native St. Louis, bringing Midwestern ingredients and ideas to traditional German cuisine. Sit inside to watch the game on the huge projection screen, or head out to the two giant patios on which you can enjoy favorites like pretzels and beer cheese dip, bratwurst, and pork schnitzel. The revamped menu caters to American tastes as well, stocking salads, sandwiches, and a host of juicy burgers -- including the Kitchen Sink Burger, with pretty much everything in the pantry artfully placed between toasted buns. In an atmosphere of general revelry accented with festive décor, you'll also find 30 big-screen TVs and live music Friday evenings. Rhine Haus, of course, serves plenty of brews -- which can all be served in a giant glass boot if you need a good German kick.

Schnitzel. Once you've had it -- whether pork, veal, chicken, or beef -- you never forget it. The flavor of moist, tender, juicy meat, surrounded by a crispy, tasty fried breading and served with spaetzle (dumplings) is one of life's great pleasures. It's also one that not enough St. Louisians have experienced...yet. So we're introducing you to great German-American cuisine at Rhine Haus Eatery & Pub, now open at 255 Union Boulevard. It's the first restaurant to occupy this address, located inside the Westmoreland building, since Spyglass on the Park closed several years ago. Rhine Haus caters to sports fans and beer lovers with 23 42'' flat screens and daily drink specials. Go for the schnitzel, go for the sports, or go for the savings. Just go!
