Scout Notes: Midtown is a bustling place, full of activity and energy. But sometimes it's a little too much, and you just want to get away for a bit, say for a quiet lunch or dinner. Luckily, Pescatore has been providing that safe haven for Midtown East residents for the past 20 years. Just a few blocks away from the epicenter of business and commerce, Pescatore is a welcoming spot for casual dining in an elegant yet relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Grab a table by the window or cozy up to the bar and watch the world go by outside while you contemplate the menu of traditional Italian dishes with just a little modern twist of their own. Start off with a fresh caprese salad or tuna tartare, then make your way to bigger fare like a Linguine Pescatore or the Grilled Yellowfin Tuna. For a pasta dish we fell in love with the Fettuccini D'Aragosta with lobster meat, leeks and tomatoes in a lobster grappa cream (how can you not?), and will definitely be heading back for the Lasagna Verde, a spinach pasta with slow roasted porchetta, fontina, caramelized onion, tomato, fennel, and béchamel sauce. The crowd is local and friendly (we overheard a group of men extolling about their favorite Broadway shows over lunch), but don't be surprised if you see a few corporate style meetings or UN dinners take place. Even peacekeepers need to eat. Menu Highlights: Tuna Tartare, $14.95 Fettuccini D'Aragosta, $23.95 Linguine Pescatore for One, MP Grilled Yellowfin Tuna, $26.95 Hours: Mon-Fri, 12pm-11:30pm Sat-Sun, 10:30am-11:30pm
