Persepolis Persian Cuisine Coupons and Deals
Holding it down in Sandy Springs since '99, this tried-and-true Persian restaurant might not be quite as ancient as the real Persepolis… but with nearly 15 years of moving and shaking in the Atlanta restaurant scene, eh, it's close enough. True to its namesake, Persepolis has remained the seat of the Persian culinary empire in Atlanta as one of ATL's oldest Persian restaurants. And its longevity, no doubt, is due to its flavorful charbroiled veggies, juicy meats-on-a-stick and other rich, heady dishes from one of the world's oldest cuisines that's all served up by the chef who's been there from the very beginning. Perhaps we're getting old and curmudgeonly, but there's just something we love about a consistently great kitchen (the kind whose joojeh kabobs are just as delicious today as they were back in the storied ancient era of Jewel and Melrose Place). While said kitchen's menu encompasses a breadth of Persian dishes, the specialty lies in the kabobs. And whether you're a voracious carnivore or a level five vegan , there's something on a stick for just about everyone. Think charbroiled eggplant and tomatoes, as well as marinated rack of lamb or juicy jumbo shrimp. This restaurant is also known for its fragrant mixed rice dishes, which incorporate ingredients like cherries, lentils and little red barberries, a staple in Iranian cookery. And when it comes time to finish things off on a sweet note, look no further than the ice cream—after all, we do have the Persians to thank for inventing everyone's favorite sweet, creamy, frozen treat. Only here, the scoops are more likely to be pistachio or saffron than cookies 'n cream… and, on the weekends, happen to come with live belly dancing. Methinks the original denizens of Persepolis themselves would approve.
