When Parish Hall opened its glass doors last spring, it already had a lot to live up to. Owner George Weld’s earlier success, the wildly popular breakfast and brunch spot Egg, is a tough act to follow. What to do? Clean the slate—right down to the ultra-minimalist design—and start fresh with a whole new thing: a vision of regional cuisine inspired in part by the owner’s farm in the Catskills. Settle into the new idea with a cocktail like the Masthattan, a tweak on the classic that features bitters made in-house with chocolate from Mast Brothers, conveniently located next door. For BBE members only, enjoy a cocktail on the house, along with one of the tantalizing toasts—choose from duck liver mousse, squash and goat cheese, smoky trout with citrus mayo and arugula, or the off-menu special of shaved kale and cured egg yolk, all served on a hearty bread brought in from Bien Cuit.
