This newcomer to the neighborhood is tucked away on a quiet street in Astoria, and it's all about keeping things fresh and fun. We’re talkin’ about a raw bar, plenty o’ grilled seafood goodness, a colorful backyard for kickin' it outdoors and even a functional set of swings hanging across from the bar. Yessir, you may have a seat and swing around while slurping down some of Off the Hook’s savory oysters — and get away with it. The grilled variety comes covered in buttery herbs and grated parmigiano. The crab bites are another sharable starter with a spicy remoulade to add that savory zing. A pot of the little neck clam steamers also doesn’t disappoint. And really, how could it with its expert combination of Pernod and cream? For more belly-filling sea fare, Off the Hook also serves its seafood by the sandwich. The classic Maine Lobster Roll is always a favorite (because, well, lobster is always delicious) with butter, lemon-mayo, homemade potato chips and a tangy slide of ‘slaw. Or try a Pollack BLT for a game-changing take on the old three-letter sammie. Think: fresh caught pollack, crispy pancetta, and basil mayo on pumpernickel bread. We’ll add P to our BLT any day. And while you're in a seafaring mood, snag a glass of the Pirate’s Pepper Punch (with guanabana, jalapeno, honey, and Jack Daniels) for a spicy reminder that adulthood ain’t so bad after all. At least, not when it includes cocktails, a swingset and fresh seafood. Menu Highlights: Grilled Oysters, $11 Crab Bites, $13 Steamed Little Neck Clams, $11 Pollack BLT, $10 Maine Lobster Roll, $17 Pirate’s Pepper Punch, $10 Hours: Monday - Friday, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday & Sunday, 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.
