Penne Primavera makes for an excellent dinner, but enjoying the dish in a cozy, two-story restaurant in the heart of Dupont Circle? Now that’s an experience. Spend your next evening out at Odéon Cafe, a 26-years-young bistro located just two blocks from the Metro. Start your meal with garlic bread served with Gorgonzola cheese and cream sauce or the ever-crowd-pleasing Bruschetta Pomodoro. For your entree, indulge in your selection of gourmet pizzas, pasta, or seafood and meat dishes complemented with a glass of wine off their extensive menu. And when it’s time, there’s no better way to bring your night to a close than with an order of Odéon’s signature Tiramisu.

Scout Notes: As summer is finally (FINALLY!) promising to slip into autumn, I'm finding myself more and more at Odéon Café. Located just north of Dupont Circle on a busy stretch of Connecticut Ave., this high-ceilinged two-floored Italian joint is perfect for intimate dinners. The balcony overlooking the whole restaurant is probably the most romantic spot, but the most exciting is near the first-floor windows. Indeed, the culinary wonders of Florence go incredibly well with prime people-watching. "Every table usually orders a pasta," said owner Khalid, who said Odéon offers 20 different varieties. They're awesome as a meal or to share as an appetizer before moving onto the secondi. My favorites is the Pasta Cleopatra. Even if it's not on the specials menu, Khalid says they'll most likely still be able to make it. It's a seafood party of shrimp, scallops, squid, mussels and lobster served over linguini in a tomato cream sauce. Other meals to try include the Vitello con Funghi (veal with sliced portobello mushrooms in a brandy cream sauce) and the classic Pizza Margherita. Add a limoncello martini or two and your mind will be squarely in Italy even if your body's still in DC. Protip: Don't forget dessert. Seriously. Menu Highlights: Pizza Margherita, $12.95 Gnocchi con Pollo, $16.95 Mushroom Cups Stuffed with Crabmeat, $8.95 Vitello con Funghi, $17.95 Pasta Cleopatra, $22.95 Limoncello Martini, $7.25 Hours:,br> Sunday - Thursday, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday - Saturday, 5 p.m. to midnight
