In "Hysterical, Historical San Francisco - the Holiday Edition" - acclaimed comic Kurt Weitzmann pokes fun at everything from the Barbary Coast to the Haight Ashbury and does the impossible by making San Francisco funnier than it actually is.  With his brash call-it-what-it-is humor, Kurt takes us on a refreshingly "incorrect" 60-minute journey around the City by the Bay. Experience all the culture shocks and aftershocks of a San Francisco transplant and learn that as bizarre as San Francisco was in the 1980's it was even stranger in the 1880's. History repeats itself, and if you don't believe us stay home and watch the History channel for 8 hours. Or take a trip back in time and find out how San Francisco became the strangest place on earth, laughing all the way.Kurt Weitzmann, an award-winning director and playwright, has been performing comedy for over a quarter century. His act has been seen at countless comedy festivals, clubs and colleges and well as on Comedy Central, and MTV. He began his stand up career at the infamous Holy City Zoo where Robin Williams, Dana Carvey, Rob Schneider, and Margaret Cho honed their craft.  While in Los Angeles, Kurt worked with comedy luminaries Dave Thomas (SCTV), Patton Oswalt (Comedians of Comedy), Dana Gould (The Simpsons), Kate Flannery (The Office), Tom Kenny (Sponge Bob Square Pants) and Eddie Pepitone, to name but a few.Kurt founded numerous Bay Area sketch groups, including Nervous Laughter which was touted as "Funnier than any given season of Saturday Night Live in the last ten years" by BAM Magazine. He also cofounded Comedy Noir, which holds the distinction of being the only comedy group to perform three different consecutive shows at the prestigious Vancouver Comedy Festival - The Jesus Roast, The Hitler Roast, and The Obama Roast (which was commissioned by the festival).  Kurt's comedy sketch album "TALENTED" is now available on American Dream Records. In 2010 his short film "Last Call" won best narrative short in the Columbia Gorge International Film Festival. The SF Weekly calls Kurt a "...comic genius." "God, that's funny..." hoots The San Francisco Chronicle. And Backstage West says Kurt "...takes Politically Incorrect comedy to the outer reaches of space."Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 9:00pm, from November 23 through December 22, and then a between-the-holidays run every night from December 26 to December 31 at the new Alcove Theater located at 414 Mason Street, one block from Union Square, in San Francisco.Home to the long-running one-woman musical hit, "Absolutely San Francisco," The Alcove Theater - "a hidden gem right off Union Square" - is a cozy, 49-seat venue in the heart of San Francisco's downtown theater district, dedicated to the presentation of original live theatrical entertainment. Premium Ticket holders will enjoy reserved cabaret table seating and complimentary concessions, plus a complimentary copy of his comedy CD, original archival artwork  beautiful photographs of San Francisco hand printed on holiday cards signed by the artist, and more.
