Scout Notes: After working as a bartender for Gaylord Opryland for five years, Blake Kovrig longed to create a space where people could come together and enjoy great music and food in more relaxed environment than what is typically found in this touristy part of town. Located directly across from the Opryland Hotel, Music City Bar and Grill offers live music nightly and a warm staff that welcomes each guest as if he/she were an old friend. At Blake’s recommendation, we had the steak nachos (they’re Music City Bar’s most popular dish). They definitely lived up to their reputation with the homemade chips, a generous portion of perfectly cooked steak, and queso…lots of queso. All of the wing sauces—which include barbecue, mild, medium, hot, and screamin’ spicy—are made in house, and with 13 different draft beers (including three high gravity beers) the beer selection is one of the best in the Opryland area.
