Scout Notes: Walking into Muncheez Mania is an experience for both your taste buds and your eyes. Not only does this Georgetown eatery serve up some of the freshest and most unique sandwiches, crepes and pizzas in town, but the artwork on the wall is museum-quality. And by "artwork on the wall," we mean the whole wall. These murals, which were painted by local artist Matt McMullen, are as eye-catching and original, as the food is creative and delicious. "I had this vision for a while about what I wanted to do," said David, the young owner of Muncheez. "I knew I wanted to cater to those times when you want a quick bite, but I didn't want it to be the typical place, with just greasy food and boring white walls." Even more original, Muncheez bakes all its bread and pizza crust fresh, literally, right in front of you, which means the food is also never boring. Take the Nana's Original sandwich, for instance, which happens to be my favorite. A Middle Eastern delight made of labne, a kind of yogurt spread, wild thyme, olive oil and veggies, eating this sandwich is like taking a quick detour to Lebanon. Continuing the world tour, my next stop was the crepe window for a Kinder Crepe. Made with German chocolate and strawberries, this was Europe on a plate. Alas, if you want to remain all-American, go with the Beef Brisket Cheese Steak. Made with smoked brisket, BBQ mayo, cheddar cheese, and grilled onions and peppers, the only thing to prevent you from chanting USA! is your full mouth. Menu Highlights: Nana's Original, $5.49 Roasted Turkey & Cheese, $5.99 Beef Brisket Cheese Stead, $7.49 Muncheez Meat Pie, $5.99 Margherita Pizza, $6.49 Kinder Crepe, $4.99 (plus 99¢ for strawberries or bananas) Hours: Sunday - Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 a.m. Friday - Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 a.m.
