Moondog Growlers (Sandy Springs) Coupons and Deals
Description
Scout Notes: We love our neighbors. And we love us some good suds. So when we stumbled upon a craft beer growler shop run by two local-lovin' beer connoisseurs, it was love at first sight. Scott and Eleanor, who opened up the first Moondog Growlers earlier this year, love them some craft brew, but they have a soft spot in their hearts for the best kind of beer: the local kind. Growlers are all about being fresh, but a growler full of beer brewed right up the street? Just about as fresh as it gets, we say. Of course, craft favorites from around the country are there among the 30 taps, but right alongside the Bells and the Southern Tier, you'll find Wild Heaven, Monday Night, Red Hare, Red Brick, and maybe even a couple local brews you haven't tried yet: Strawn, out of Fairburn, or Kennesaw's Burnt Hickory. Not sure which to fill up that 64-ounce jug with? No need for hemming and hawing — Moondog offers samples (a buck apiece, and a flight of three 8-ounce glasses will run a mere $2.50), as well as some expert guidance by the knowledgable, self-professed "beer geeks" behind the counter, many of whom are homebrewers themselves. Besides being full of beer and fun to say, growlers are beloved by beer connoisseurs because it's just about as fresh as beer gets, outside of installing taps in your own kitchen. And because you get to try things you just can't get in cans or bottles elsewhere. Oh, and because if you show up to a friend's house toting a big ol' half-gallon jug of Drafty Kilt, you just might be the best houseguest ever. (See: Thanksgiving, holiday parties, and football gatherings.) And Moondog's is graciously offering all of us a chance to get in on that sweet growler action for free. To be clear, we're talking a pre-beer growler — no free beer allowed 'round these parts. (Write your senator). But trust us: once you gaze upon those thirty beautiful, shiny tap handles, you'll be filling 'er up in no time.
