Scout Notes: If Don Draper had the inclination to stay out all night on one of those "client meetings" and then need a place for a decent meal at 4 a.m., he'd probably turn to Market Diner on 11th Ave. Open 24hrs a day, the food here is solid, staying true to what a good diner should provide, i.e. juicy burgers with amazing fixings, desserts that'll make your mouth water, and coffee. Lots of coffee. Opened in 1964 and recently re-opened 5 years ago by new owners, Market Diner might have just seen a real Don Draper or two. The 60's modern decor gives the impression that time has slowed, and if you go with their giant Chicago Burger with sauteed onions, bacon, mushrooms, cheddar, and fries, you just might want it to. Conveniently located to the clubs of Hell's Kitchen and music venues like Terminal 5, Market sees a lot of late night activity but during day light hours is just as welcoming and bustling.
