Scout Notes: Want pizza that's above average but don't necessarily want a bunch of artisanal buzzwords flying off the menu at your eyeballs? This is where Lucifer's Pizza has rightfully carved its niche. Mom and Pop comfort food parlors sometimes don't have a quality product (and may function solely as a front for the mafia) while upscale places give you the stink eye when your order doesn't include "truffle," "bone marrow," or "Edison light bulb." Lucifer's is cozy, contemporary, and the flavors are unique without being pretentious. Ingredients like lamb and pumpkin top these pies in ways you never even knew you missed. "You can taste the passion in our food," says manager Alejandro. "Pizza here is a visceral experience." He isn't kidding. At Lucifer's you can choose your spice level, from Zero to Blazing (You put red pepper on your pie anyway, right? ), but that's not even the best part. The sauce for the pies begins with crushing the tomatoes by hand. The dough is shipped in from New York because the water there tastes better. If it's got a bunch of chemicals/additives, it's not used at Lucifer's&#151you won't even see conventional ketchup in the back room because it's got high fructose corn syrup. This is the kind of food that's so refreshingly tasty it'll make you curse. Additionally, any pie can be made with gluten-free dough or vegan cheese. There's something for everyone here, and if you don't think so, you know just where to go. Menu Highlights: Zucha (Pumpkin, olives, feta, zucchini, red bell pepper & spinach): Personal $8.99, Large $17.99 Greek Lamb & Rosemary (Lamb, caramelized onions, feta cheese, kalamata olives, rosemary, garlic, lemon pepper & chopped parsley): Personal $8.99, Large $17.99 Veggie Supremo (Feta, sun-dried roma tomato, basil pesto, olives, red onion, green bell pepper, mushrooms & arugula): Personal $8.99, Large $17.99 Three Little Pigs (Prosciutto, sausage, bacon, fresh mozzarella): Personal $9.99, Large $19.99 Hours: Monday - Sunday, 12 pm - 10 pm
