Description
The Laguna Art Museum has the following exhibitions on display February 24th through April 28th. George Hurrell: Laguna to Hollywood: Laguna to Hollywood features a selection of the glamour photographer’s images from 1925 to 1940, mostly from the museum’s permanent collection. Hurrell photographed movie stars and many of the early artists of Laguna Beach. Ex·Pose: Allison Schulnik: Allison Schulnik shows the same relish for visceral and surreal imagery throughout her work, whether paintings, sculptures, or clay animations. Her work is haunting, mournful, and beautiful all at once. John Mason: Blue Wall: John Mason’s 21-foot-long Blue Wall (1959) is a landmark in the history of ceramics and a masterpiece of Abstract Expressionist art. Fifty-four years after its creation, the exhibition at Laguna Art Museum is only its fifth public showing. The Permanent Collection: Curated by Executive Director Dr. Malcolm Warner, this selection of highlights from the museum’s own collection includes recent acquisitions and restorations, tracing the history of California art from the nineteenth century to the present.
