Toast to taste itself with today's deal from Kushi, one of DC's hottest Japanese restaurants: Pay $25 for one person to enjoy the chef's seasonal tasting menu at dinner along with a sake pairing (regularly $50). The tasting menu takes you through hot and cold appetizers, a sushi trio, a sizzling entrée, and dessert. Or, pay $25 for $50 worth of sushi and other delicacies. Sink your teeth into plump pieces of wagyu beef or pork belly from the grill, or savor pieces of tuna flown in twice-weekly from the Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo, and wash it all down with more than 11 Japanese suds and microbrews -- plus a list of 25 small-batch sakes. Washingtonian food writer Todd Kliman calls this Mount Vernon izakaya "a knockout," while the Washington Post's Tom Sietsema says "the next time someone tells me Washington isn't an interesting place to dine, I'm sending him straight to Kushi."
