Imerman Angels was founded by Jonny Imerman, who was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 26. Following surgery, Jonny was informed that the cancer in his body metastasized from the surgery site and quickly spread through his body. A five month series of chemotherapy treatments left Jonny weak with many side effects. Just as Jonny began to find his post-cancer identity, approximately one year after chemotherapy, a routine CT scan revealed four tumors on his spine. Following a four hour surgery, he was cancer free and vowed to fulfill a promise that he had made to himself during the chemotherapy treatments – to help other cancer patients fight for their lives. According to Jonny, he wondered: “What if every cancer fighter could talk to a cancer survivor, who not only had beaten the same type of cancer, but who also was the same age and gender as the fighter? The cancer survivor would be an angel; walking, living proof that the fighter could win too. What an amazing connection. This is why I created Imerman Angels.”
