Scout Notes: We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: if you’ve never been to I Dream Of Weenie, you’re really missing out on a good hot dog. And let’s be honest, sometimes you just seriously need a hot dog (or four if you’re us). I Dream Of Weenie owner, Leslie Allen, who took over the business in June 2011, is constantly experimenting with ingredients to make new and interesting hot dog combinations. In fact, last year, at the request of her customers, she created a menu of breakfast-inspired hot dogs (we’re big fans of the Hashbrown Casserole Weenie) which she began serving on Sundays. Allen loves East Nashville and so it’s always been important to her to purchase ingredients from the area in which she lives and works. But recently she’s taken it to a whole other hyper-local level. Allen’s newest weenie creations—the Local Bratwurst Weenie and the Local Chorizo Weenie— are made from meats she purchases from the Porter Road Butcher right down the street. Allen also braises the Local Bratwurst Weenie in a beer from a local, recently opened brewery. Doesn’t get much more local than that. Hot dogs don't get any better than this! Vegetarians rejoice....they serve a Not-Dog and it is really good. You have to try the Rebel Yelp and the Pimento Cheese Weenie.
