Scout Notes: Whether you work from home or commute to an office every day, we think having a coffee shop workspace away from the office is pretty important (we tend to believe that some of the best ideas are imagined over coffee and scones and such). And while our rad city is filled with great coffee houses perfectly capable of delivering the caffeinated jolt we (sometimes desperately) need to start our day, we find that there are few we actually want to hang out in longer than it takes to catch up with an old friend or grab a quick bite. At least that was case up until Headquarters, a brand spankin’ new coffee shop located on Charlotte Pike, came into our lives. Housed in a 100-year-old-building (the space was originally an alleyway), this cozy (as in nine- by sixty-feet cozy) coffee shop carries only local vendors—something that’s really important to owners James and Louisa Green. “We picked the best products we could find and we keep it pretty simple,” says Louisa. “We’re for the community, about the community. We want to support our neighbors so that our whole community reaps the benefits of our success.” With bare walls and wooden accents, Headquarters’ calming, minimalist interior was imagined and constructed by James, who also works as a professional carpenter. Echoing the same simplicity, the menu features only classic espresso drinks and drip coffee made with beans supplied by local roaster, Roast Inc, as well as teas and herbal infusions from East Nashville’s High Garden Tea. As far as food goes, Headquarters offers an array of baked goods (including vegan and gluten-free options) from Dozen Bakery and Vegan Vee Menu Highlights: Cappuccino, $3.75, $4.25, $4.75 Spicy Mocha, $4.50, $5.00 Drip Coffee, $2.75, $3.25, $3.75 Muffins, scones, etc., $2-$3.50 Hours: Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Closed
