Since May 1949, the Golden Ox is where Kansas City's steak lovers go for a piece of the real thing. Decked out with a distinctive western décor, carpet designed with branding iron and steer head designs and a mural of the old cattle drives in the bar, you can feel at home whether you're a cowboy or city slicker. Open Monday through Friday from 11am to 9pm and 10pm. Saturday and Sunday they open at 4pm for dinner.reviewsDavid W on YelpGreat food and awesome steaks. The place is old and romantic, it's dark inside and has just a natural feel of peace to it. I took my wife there when we first started dating and it was great. The food is awesome and had one of the best steaks I have ever had, while it may be a little expensive it is well worth it.Bradley Farris on YelpThe Golden Ox is a gem in Cowtown. It has a classic atmosphere and a wonderful staff. I love going there. I'd highly recommend the Ox Cut Prime Rib or the Kansas City Strip for dinner. If you go there for lunch they have great BBQ, also they have a nice lunch sized file (called the luncheon steak).Wacky Zachy on YelpI love the location, even though there isn't much around it, it's nice to see the history of the area and how that ties in with the restaurant (I think it's the only steakhouse still in the river bottoms/stockyards). The steaks are great, good locally grown beef. I like my steak medium rare in most other steakhouses but at G.O. I order it medium.
