Frosty Frog Creamery & Cafe Coupons and Deals
Scout Notes:Ah, the American dream. Boy meets, falls for and then marries girl, and both retire together, happily ever after. Oh, except they then open a small ice cream shop, which morphs into a thriving neighborhood hub. That's precisely the route Frank and Glenda of Frosty Frog Creamery & Café have taken. They both loved cooking and entertaining, and had no restaurant experience to speak of. But when Glenda retired in 2001, they decided to try their hand at an ice cream and coffee shop. And not just your run-of-the-dairy-mill ice cream shop – they decided to make all of the ice cream themselves. And that's what Frank enjoys most, "I love having the freedom to create, there's no one else's recipe to bound what I put together." In fact, they've tinkered around in the kitchen long enough to come up with 323 hoppin' flavors, and you'll find 32 of 'em in the cafe on any given day. We're talking delicacies like Cherokee Gold (butterfinger banana cheesecake) and honey cinnamon oatmeal cookie – yes, they are as full of flavor as they are of adjectives. (Hint: it's a lot.) And the joint itself is cheery, in the way an ice cream shop should be, without being overly childish, in the way that many are. Decorated in muted purples and greens, it's very calm and friendly (in spite, or perhaps because of, a scarf-sporting frog atop the sign). This is the sort of neighborhood cafe where the food is good and the people are even better. They know the customers here, but it's not merely recognition. They'll ask about your family. They actually care to hear what's going on in your life. They'll give you a hug. We dare you to visit on a rainy Monday, when you're cranky and tired and just spent over an hour in traffic. Frank-ly (and Glenda-ly), we'll be surprised if you don't crack a giant grin. Bring on that iced cream.
