Friendly’s Coupons 2014

The first Friendly Ice Cream shop opened in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1935. Brothers Prestly and Curtis Blake sold double-dip ice cream cones for 5 cents. By 1974, there were 500 Friendly Ice Cream restaurants in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic United States. The company was acquired by Hershey Foods in 1979, and Friendly introduced sundaes with candy bar toppings such as Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Heath Bar pieces. In 1988, the company is sold to Donald N. Smith, who adds the “s” to the name (most people already called the restaurant “Friendly’s” rather than “Friendly”).

Friendly’s continued to expand and improve its non-ice cream menu, and today has over 380 locations up and down the East Coast.

Friendly’s Menu Items

Friendly’s serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with specialties such as Supermelt sandwiches, “Build Your Own” burgers, salads, and entrees such as the Signature Clam Boat, New England Fish and Chips, the classic Friendly Hot Dog, and fried chicken. Friendly’s famous ice cream is still a major focus of the menu, with a limitless combination of options for the build-your-own sundae, classic sundaes, milkshakes and other ice cream specialties, as well as take-out ice cream and ice cream cakes. A family-friendly restaurant, Friendly’s has a two-tier kid’s menu.
