The Issue: Seniors Lack Resources for Healthful Meals For many senior citizens, a fixed or low income can be an overwhelming challenge. As their medical expenses grow, their income buys less and nutritious food often becomes a luxury item. The holidays can be especially challenging since many seniors lack the option to enjoy a healthful holiday meal. Through food centers and distribution programs, Focus: HOPE supplements the dietary needs of about 35,000 seniors in 42 metropolitan Detroit communities and aims to distribute meals to its program recipients to lessen stressful experiences around the holidays.
