Description
Scout Notes: Oftentimes when it comes to sports bars, if you've seen one, you've seen 'em all. Festooned with various sports paraphernalia, pouring lukewarm PBRs, and putting "famous" (read: once-frozen) wings in baskets: it seems to be the holy trinity of many a football-friendly den. But Midtown's latest sports-watching, beer-drinking venue? Not so. With their craft beer selection, rather luxurious lounge, and dishes like lobster macaroni and cheese, Fins could easily get away with acting like another high-fallutin' Midtown ultralounge. Instead, they chose to keep it real, even with a menu that far exceeds your standard pub grub. Sports spectators are welcome here, as are the Midtown neighbors who simply want a place to put their feet up, perhaps with a pint of Monday Night Brewing in one hand and a softshell crab sandwich in the other. Part sports bar, part seafood grill, part lounge, Fins is a delicious hybrid of laid-back hangout, low-key date spot, and drinking-with-friends home base. And don't even get us started on that lunch — anyone working in the vicinity needs to make an afternoon pilgrimage to the circa-1920 cottage at 12th and Crescent. With Chef Tino Pardinas at the wheel, everything on the menu is fresh, made from scratch, and never frozen—except the High Road Craft ice cream, of course. So, next time you're kicking back and watching the Falcons lay down the hurt, you can also be chowing down on vermouth mussels or seared scallops with a cold craft beer (and maybe some of that ice cream). Victory never tasted so good. Menu Highlights: Grouper Reuben, $9 Fried Grilled Cheese Sandwich, $9 Crab Burger, $11 Fins Nachos, $12 ($16 with lobster, $18 for "all the way") Lobster Mac 'n Cheese, $17 Hours: Monday - Saturday, 11 a.m. - 3 a.m. Sunday, 12 p.m. - 12 a.m.
