Comfort food never had it so good. Chef Joseph Humphrey pulls out all the stops, creating a casual yet refined destination with elevated takes on Southern food using a mix of local and specialty ingredients, like Sopchoppy sugar cane syrup, gulf shrimp, and house-smoked mussels. He takes ordinary, simple deviled eggs and reinvents them with a nugget of fried chicken liver—you get the picture. Southern boys know how to fry, and the proof is in the airy light beignets and sweet hush puppies. Likewise, the country fried quail and waffles will make you dismiss classic chicken and waffles after just one bite. To top it all off there are crazy good desserts, like the salted pecan pie.
