Scout Notes:Germany and Park Slope: two seemingly disparate locations, minus their love of great beer halls. On an eastern block in Park Slope lies a basketball stadium of a beer hall, aptly named Die Koelner Bierhalle (aka: The KBH). Similar to its Germanic aural inspiration, the beer hall was previously a warehouse for a large lumber yard, its concrete slabs a cold industrial construct. Now the only frigid aspect of the 4,000 square foot facility is the 30 German beers on tap (with 40 bottled up). Management is steadily increasing the breadth of brewed offerings. Influenced by the region of Cologne, Kolsch beers are the house specialty. Beer is the name of the game, but a wide selection of liquors are available for drinkers who go hard. The best entrées might just be the wurst — the curry bratwurst is a favorite among patrons, as is the spicy chicken bratwurst on a Kaiser roll, dressed with sauerkraut. Open until 4 a.m. on the weekends, the industrious kitchen will serve you if you happen to saunter in at the last minute. Die Koelner Bierhalle is the most robust purveyor of beer and spirits in the Slope. Join the party down in the halle. Menu Highlights: Kolsch beers (large), $6 Curry Wurst (on a Kaiser roll with sauerkraut), $5 Spicy Chicken Wurst (with fries and sauerkraut), $10 Bratwurst (on a Kaiser roll with sauerkraut), $5 Pretzels, $3/small, $6 large Hours Monday - Friday: 2 pm - 4 am Saturday: 12 pm - 4 am Sunday: 12 pm - 2 am
