Luckily, St. Louis has its own wondrous cave, which you can explore with a barge ride for two for $20 (regularly $40) from Crystal City Underground. Locally owned and operated, the St. Louis-focused Fiesta Corporation takes you on the subterranean route with its Crystal City Underground operation. Once a sand mine used in the local glass industry that gave Crystal Springs its name, the cave has beautiful stone walls and pillars that were hewn into the rock over decades. This incredible cave is roughly 200 acres with ceilings stretching 30 to 40 feet above the floor, and has a near-constant 60-degree temperature. The 25-minute ride ferries you along on a motorized barge decorated with strands of white lights -- much safer (and more attainable) than a magic carpet ride. Want more?
