Scout Notes: Much like a friendly corner store, corner pub, or corner hatmaker, every village needs a corner restaurant where they can toss back tacos and margaritas with reckless abandon. And when Smyrna's Market Village got its very own corner taqueria (named, incidentally, Corner Taqueria), the villagers flocked for a taste of fried fish, pulled pork, and grilled shrimp in taco form. (See also: the impressive margarita list.) Corner Taqueria's a la carte-menu of taco offerings gives one the chance to sample a bit of everything, from the traditional (a carne asada-style steak taco) to the varieties you won't normally find at your average neighborhood Mexican spot. And the food here is certainly a step up from the combination J's and curiously grey-colored refried beans of many a casual, convenient, gringotastic Mexican restaurant. Here, the margaritas aren't of the syrupy lime green variety—the many house infusions keep things interesting, and the bar shelves are fully stocked with plenty of tequilas to keep you busy for quite a while. One last word of wisdom? Try the elote. If you haven't yet experienced grilled corn on the cob with spicy mayo and cotija cheese, you'll understand why this is some seriously good cornography. Kinda makes you wonder: why can't we have one of these on every corner? Menu Highlights: Grilled Elote, $5.49 Ceviche, $9.99 Fried Fish Taco, $4.99 Pulled Pork Taco, $4.49 Hours: Sunday - Thursday, 11 a.m. - 12 a.m. Friday & Saturday, 11 a.m. - 3 a.m.
