A young Jewish girl who's cast -- much to her immigrant parents' dismay -- as Jesus in her school's Christmas pageant is at the center of Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies' "Coney Island Christmas". A seasonal story for people of all ages and faiths, "Coney Island Christmas"weaves together nostalgia, music and merriment as the girl, now much older, recounts this memorable bit of autobiography to her great-granddaughter. Kit Wilder directs this timeless and universal tale of what it means to be an American during the holidays.

Known for its provocative productions, City Lights Theater Company continues to push boundaries with this season’s upcoming shows. On select dates in March or April, take in a performance of Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler—adapted for the stage by master playwright Brian Friel—the story of a dissatisfied newlywed who manipulates those around her to devastating effect. In June, witness the world premiere of Spacebar: A Broadway Play by Kyle Sugarman, the incredible (and hilarious) story of a Colorado kid who tries to stick it to Broadway with his unproduceable, space-age play. You may want to arrive early, since seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, but there’s no bad seat in the house—these innovative shows will captivate from any vantage point.
